Lodgepole pine, are carefully selected for soundness, color, and their
character, such as burls, cat’s-eyes, interesting limb formations, fiddlebacks,
etc.
are painstakingly cut to achieve the desired end result. After rough
cutting the mantel, the blanks are end-waxed and sent to the kiln for a slow
drying process.
the rough cut mantels are cut to the finished size, and contoured on the
ends. Any sharp edges are heavily bull nosed, and the entire mantel is fine
sanded before a lustrous finish is applied.

amount of “character,” i.e., no burls, lightly burled, branch stubs, heavy
